YES update for COVID-19
What is the Youth Employability Service (YES)?
We are a free service commissioned by East Sussex County Council offering impartial support and guidance to young people aged 15-18. We work specifically with young people in the East Sussex area who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), or are at risk of not being in education, employment or training.
How we can help:
Our advisers work with young people on a 1:1 basis and offer support and guidance specific to
what is required by the young person.
Please get in touch to book an appointment and see an adviser.
We operate out of Eastbourne and Hastings, you can find us at:
- Eastbourne Office:
Lower Office, 5 Chiswick Place, Eastbourne, BN21 4NL

We regularly release Job Lists and Apprenticeship Lists, these are full of local opportunities for 16 - 18 year old's. We also release a Newsletter every month which is full of other opportunities for local young people.
You can find these list's and newsletter's on our Facebook page, alternatively you can contact us to be added to our mailing list.
What we do:
We support young people to decide on their next steps and help them progress further with their choices – whether that involves looking at:
- College options
- Other training opportunities
- Work experience
- Employment and job searching
We also support young people in completing application forms, practicing interview skills,
creating CV's and supporting each young persons individual needs.
We have created a resources site for young people which includes various resources to help with
CV building, information about colleges, apprenticeships etc. You can access that here:
Who we work with:
We work with many other organisations and education providers to find the best opportunities and provide the best support to every young person we work with.
Within our organisation we also have specialist advisers who co-locate with various teams such as:
- Youth Offending Team (YOT)
- Through Care Team (LAC)
- Special Educational Needs Disabilities (iSEND)
This means that we can support young people who may be facing things that are a barrier to moving forward positively with their lives. This could be due to mental health, those who may not be able to live with their family and those that may not have had a good time at school.
We also offer support to young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
We offer drop-in sessions in various locations across the county. We host the drop-in service both at our Eastbourne and Hastings office, alternatively you can call us to book an appointment in one of our outreach hubs.
*Please note our drop in's and outreach hubs are on hold whilst in lock down, however you contact us for our video call and phone call service*
